Wayfaring Stranger

Image
The Wayfaring Stranger is an American folk song, made famous by Johnny Cash, Eva Cassidy and many others.  Vocals: Sarah Rearrangement: Joep Sporck Recorded: Joep Sporck My favorite version of this song is by Rhiannon Giddens, which you can find here . Other beautiful versions are by Emmylou Harris and Eva Cassidy. Recently this song was sung in the movie 1917, right before the men are sent into an ambush (sung by Jos Slovick). The song is about a lost soul, traveling through life. It's often associated with a soldier who's about to die. This recording was made by Joep Sporck, who is a composer for film, tv and media.

Both Sides Now

This is my favorite song of Joni Mitchell: Both Sides Now. Original by Joni Mitchell Vocals & Guitar: Sarah Piano: Joep Sporck Recorded: Joep Sporck This song was written by Joni Mitchell in 1966, but was first recorded by Judi Collins. I love music from this time period and especially from the West Coast (maybe even more since our move here. Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young, The Beach Boys, The Birds, The Doors, The Creedence Clearwater Revival. But, no one beats the women; Joni Mitchell, Janis Joplin and Joan Baez. Both Sides Now (also known as 'Clouds') is about the difference between fantasy and reality. As Joni said as an introduction to the song in 1967: "This is a song that talks about sides to things. In most cases there are both sides to things and in a lot of cases there are more than just both. His and a hers. His and theirs. But in this song there are only two sides to things… there’s reality and I guess what you might call fantasy. Ther...

Since I Am With You

I am proud to share with you my first song on this blog: Since I Am With You! Lyrics: Sarah Music: Sander Ruijters & Sarah Recorded: Joep Sporck Photo: Our wedding cake by @monicadelfatti I started to write this song when I first met my husband, but never finished it (I'm too much of a perfectionist). Before my wedding day however, I decided to complete it with a second verse and a bridge, and play it as my vows. We finally recorded this song in March 2020 in Los Angeles. I'm both singing and playing guitar. Thanks to Joep Sporck for the beautiful recording and feedback, and to Sander Ruijters for helping me out with the chords. Don't hesitate to contact me (menu on the left) for more songs and info about live performances or recording :) Thanks! Sarah @sarahinlalala sarainlalala@gmail.com

There are a lot of things I want to share with you about a lot of different subjects. Therefore I labeled all my posts. You can find those labels in the menu at the top left on my homepage. Here's a list of a couple the labels you can expect on my page, the main labels being Los Angeles , My Music and Projects : Los Angeles General Information Under this label you'll find general information about your trip to Los Angeles; how to get around, information about the airport, eating habits, etc. If you want the full guide in 1 pdf file, please don't hesitate to contact me :) Highlights Of course visitors want to visit the "highlights" of LA. However, in my opinion, these are not the best places to go in LA. There are often many tourists, it is dirty and / or you have to wait in long queues. But if, despite this warning you still want to see these highlights, here are a few tips for the best experiences ! There'll be blogs labeled Hollywood, Santa Mon...
